Return to the Forbidden Planet comes to Saint Leo stage

The School of Arts and Sciences and the Saint Leo Theatre Program invite you to experience the theatrical production of Return to the Forbidden Planet. This Olivier Award-winning musical is loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the 1956 science fiction film, Forbidden Planet. Come along with Captain Tempest as he journeys in space to D’Illyria, an unchartered planet that is host to only three inhabitants: Doctor Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and their robot Ariel. This high energy performance features rock ‘n’ roll music from the 1950s and 1960s (“Great Balls of Fire,” “The Monster Mash,” “Wipe Out,” and more) and dialogue in iambic pentameter. What’s not to love about this eclectic and fun musical?

All performances will be held in the Saint Leo Black Box Theatre, on the ground floor of Benedictine Hall at University Campus.

There will be six performances of the musical:

  • 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 22;
  • 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24;

  • 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 3; and,
