0Mel Greene Institute offering webinar, Online Child Exploitation and AI: A Dangerous Combination
The Mel Greene Institute to Combat Human Trafficking is sponsoring a webinar examining a timely and in-the-news issue: artificial intelligence. The institute, based at Saint Leo University, will host Online Child Exploitation and AI: A Dangerous Combination, 7 – 8 p.m., Thursday, July 27.
The guest speaker is Jan Edwards, president of the Paving the Way Foundation. Since 2015, Paving the Way Foundation has educated 26,000 youth and adults, working daily to empower children to make smart choices online. Edwards works collaboratively with organizations throughout the nation to fight against child trafficking and exploitation. She served as the chairperson of the Seminole County (FL) Human Trafficking Task Force and co-chair for the Central Florida Human Trafficking Task Force and sits on the University of Central Florida College of Criminal Justice Advisory Board.

The Mel Green Institute to Combat Human Trafficking was founded in 2022 when Saint Leo University and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Florida Forensic Institute for Research, Security, and Tactics (F1RST) joined forces to fight human trafficking regionally, with a concentration on three area counties.
