0Saint Leo faculty members serve statewide academic society in leadership roles
Earlier this month, Dr. Iain Duffy, associate professor of biology, completed a two-year term as president of the Florida Academy of Sciences. The milestone was marked during the academy’s annual conference, which was held virtually.
Dr. Darin Bell, associate professor of chemistry, succeeded Duffy as president. Bell was president-elect during Duffy’s term as president.
The academy is the Florida affiliate of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is the only organization in Florida that represents all disciplines of sciences, including social sciences and computational sciences. College students have paths to involvement in the society, as well. The Florida Academy of Sciences also publishes a journal, Florida Scientist.
