University launches The Hungry Lion food truck, lunch begins March 2

Saint Leo University is taking Dining Services on the road. The university officially opened its new food truck, The Hungry Lion, on Tuesday, February 23, with a “soft opening” at University Campus.

University President Jeffrey Senese sought a way to not only help students, but also to be a community service—and spread the word about Saint Leo University. As the university continues to grow, the university is looking to creative ways to serve its students.

The 34-foot-truck features photos of University Campus and a distinctive logo featuring a lion, Saint Leo’s mascot.

At Tuesday’s soft opening, students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to sample some of the food truck’s menu. The truck also received a blessing from Father Randall Meissen, university chaplain.

The Hungry Lion will begin serving lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, beginning Tuesday, March 2. The food truck will be located off of the Student Community Center Lakeview Patio.

NOTE: Meal plans, Lions Loot, and Bonus Bucks are not accepted at The Hungry Lion. Patrons may be use cash or credit cards.

In the future, Dining Services hopes to take The Hungry Lion around campus to provide late night dining; to the Tampa Education Center, and to community events.
