Learn about updating W-4s in Workday
As a new year begins, please take a moment to consider your income tax filing status. The IRS requires employers to remind employees to submit a new Form W-4 if their filing status, other income, deductions, or credits have changed or will change for the next year. You are not required to submit a new W-4 if there are no changes.
If you claimed “Exempt” in 2020, the exemption expires February 16, 2021.
You can submit a new Form W-4 via Workday. Once logged into Workday:
- From the homepage, under Applications select Pay.
- Under Actions select Withholding Elections.
- Under Federal Elections, scroll down and select Update.
- Input the Effective Date and select OK.
- Complete the form according to your need.
- Click OK.
- Done.
The IRS has a helpful online tool to assist with your selection. Navigate to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-withholding-estimator to use the IRS tool.
