Prominent social work educator keynotes fifth annual conference
Saint Leo University’s graduate and undergraduate social work programs are sponsoring their annual one-day conference, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 8, for social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, human service, and criminal justice system professionals.
The conference keynote speaker, Dr. Ruth A. Brandwein, was the winner of the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for her decades of work advocating for children, the homeless, women, and people of color, and for her lasting contributions to the ongoing professional training of social workers. She is now retired. Brandwein, along with faculty experts from Saint Leo University and from the community, will give presentations throughout the day on effective solutions to social problems. The theme of the conference is “Transformative Social Work: Solutions, Action, Hope.”
The content is appropriate for continuing education (CE) credits for professionals practicing in Florida (up to five CE credits), in Georgia, and in Virginia. Florida professionals are required to satisfy their continuing education credits by March 31. The full conference program and registration form is available at Social Work Conference Registration.
