Women’s lacrosse team wins top national academic honors

Congratulations to Saint Leo’s women’s lacrosse team for receiving national academic honors! The International Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on August 9 announced that Saint Leo’s team was one of four named as 2023 IWLCA Academic Merit Squads.

This designation is awarded to the top teams in each division with the highest team GPA for the preceding academic year. Each of the winning teams were previously named as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad.

“In Division II, Saint Leo University earned the Merit Squad distinction by beating 56 other Division II schools that also earned Honor Squad recognition,” the IWLCA stated. “The squad earned a 3.731 GPA to close out the academic year.”

Harvard University posted the highest GPA among the 106 Division I schools that recorded a team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year. Harvard’s team finished with a 3.781 GPA overall.
