University Advancement recaps fundraising successes, shares new resource

Our Saint Leo community raised $2,351,359 in support of a variety of university programs and initiatives during the 2022-2023 fiscal year. This achievement is a result of collaboration across our university. The University Advancement team wishes to thank all faculty and staff for their support to help enrich our university through philanthropy.

The University Advancement team saw fundraising success with its annual Day for Saint Leo campaign, a mini campaign to raise funds for the bachelor’s degree in nursing program, and continued support for student scholarships. Here are a few highlights on how these efforts performed:

  • The 10th annual Day for Saint Leo achieved record-breaking results, tallying $522,680 raised from 676 gifts.
  • In February, the team launched a mini campaign to raise funds for the Bachelor of Science in nursing program and the build out of the second floor of Benedictine Hall. The team achieved its first-year goal to support the nursing program by raising $1.25 million, which includes more $500,000 from private donations and a $740,000 appropriation from the state of Florida.
  • Throughout the fiscal year, the team raised $954,937.90 for student scholarships from 315 gifts. This represents a year-over-year increase of 114% in scholarship dollars raised, and a 32% increase in the number of scholarship gifts.

Now as the team ramps up for this fiscal year, a new comprehensive fundraising catalog is available. Created with the needs of the academic community in mind, the catalog contains overviews of all fundraising priorities and opportunities for the university. If you would like a copy of this document or to propose your fundraising opportunity to be included in the catalog, please contact the Development Office at development@saintleo.edu.

University Advancement is now located on the first floor of Benedictine Hall. This new location has resulted in increased engagement from alumni and donors who make it a point to visit the office when they come to campus. Faculty and staff are welcome to stop by for a tour of the space or to visit with the team.
