0Samuel Benson, FBI National Academy unit chief, presents ‘Leadership Mindset’ on Wednesday
WHAT:
Leadership Mindset, presented by Sam Benson
Sam Benson is the unit chief for the Leadership Education Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. He, and his unit, provide instruction at the National Academy for various topics including psychology of leadership, health and wellness concepts, investigative techniques, and communication. Sam is an 11-year Army Infantry veteran with combat deployments to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He joined the FBI in 2008, was assigned to the Jefferson City, Missouri office where he worked human trafficking, bank robberies, and violent gangs, and was on the Kansas City SWAT Team. Sam transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where he continued to work violent crime and became the Team Leader for the SWAT Team. He started teaching new FBI Agent’s tactics and judgmental shooting in 2017 and updated the FBI Tactical Instructor development program before moving to support the National Academy. Sam has a bachelor’s degree in History, a master’s degree in Performance Psychology, and completed the University of Pennsylvania Executive Education Advanced Management Program. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia with subject matter expertise in leadership and psychology.
