0Participants wanted for inaugural Volunteer Week, April 10-14
The Saint Leo community is invited to participate in our inaugural Volunteer Week in April. Although classes will be taking place, community members are encouraged to volunteer when and where they can. Note: Employees must check with their supervisors about volunteering.
Volunteer opportunities organized by Saint Leo include:
Monday, April 10, Peaceful Reflections Garden, 9:30 a.m. – noon: Volunteers will weed and plant at the Peaceful Reflections Garden by Saint Edward Hall.
Tuesday, April 11, Beautifying the Teak Tables, 9:30 a.m. – noon: Volunteers will sand and wax the teak tables outside on the loggias of the Student Activities Building (SAB) and Student Community Center (SCC).
Wednesday, April 12, Beautifying the Teak Tables, 9:30 a.m. – noon: Volunteers will sand and wax the teak tables outside on the loggias of SAB and SCC.
Thursday, April 13, Virtual Service Day: Community members are encouraged to participate in a service project they choose or a virtual service opportunity. Consider becoming a virtual companion for the elderly with TELEPALS. Contact Nora Medeiros at nmedeiros@seniorsinservice.org for more information.
Friday, April 14, Virtual Service Opportunity: We encourage the community to participate in their own service project or a virtual service opportunity. Consider donating to a nonprofit organization through routine exercising with Charity Miles. The campus has contributed to nearly 2,000 miles since January 2023, in support of various charities! On your behalf, Charity Miles secures donations from corporations to a charity for every mile you run, walk, or bicycle. For every mile walked, Charity Miles donates 25 cents and for every mile biked, 10 cents.
To participate in Charity Miles, take these simple steps:
- Download the “Charity Miles App” in your app store
- Create a “signup”
- Search for the group, “Lions for Charity”
- Select “activity”
- “Start” the time tracker while you exercise and press “finish” when you are done
Supplies are provided for all Volunteer Week opportunities on campus. Volunteers may sign up here via Sign Up Genius.
Volunteers should arrive at the Student Activities Building, Room 111, by 9:30 a.m. each day.
