0Saint Leo celebrates annual Christmas tree lighting and blessing of manger
The Saint Leo University campus community came together Thursday night, December 1, for the annual Christmas tree lighting and blessing of the manger. The evening featured a new Christmas Village, sponsored by the town of St. Leo, and included holiday craft activities, games, food options, and more for participants to enjoy.
Saint Leo University President Edward Dadez gave the official proclamation “Let there be light” before the Christmas tree, manger, and surrounding palm trees all lit up in spectacular fashion for those in attendance.
Mike D’Ambrosio, chief of University Safety and Emergency Management and mayor of the town of St. Leo, led those in attendance in prayer, while Daniel Konesky, Student Government Union president, provided a reading from the Gospel of Luke. Interim Director of University Ministry Lucas Nocera blessed the Christmas tree and manger, and closed out the event by leading the Saint Leo community in Christmas carols.
Santa and Mrs. Claus also made a welcome appearance and posed for photos with students and guests after the lighting.
