Popular speaker series to host U.S. Navy Reserve Rear Admiral on November 9

Mission-Driven Leaders: Conversations on Purpose, sponsored by the San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union, will host its fourth guest leader who will visit University Campus on November 9. The university is proud to welcome home alumna U.S. Navy Reserve Rear Admiral Ingrid M. Rader ’14, ’21 for an inspiring conversation on mission-driven leadership. Hosted by Dr. Mark Gesner, vice president of Community Engagement and Communications, this popular series is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the public.

U.S. Navy Reserve Rear Admiral Ingrid M. Rader ’14, ’21

A cryptologic warfare officer, U.S. Navy Reserve Rear Admiral Ingrid M. Rader serves as Navy Reserve commander of Fleet Information Warfare Command Pacific and director of Maritime Information Warfare Pacific Fleet. Rader’s active-duty operational assignments have spanned the globe by air and by sea, including deployments with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 1 to Manama, Bahrain, Okinawa, Japan, and Iwakuni, Japan; and with Commander, Carrier Group 8 aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt to the Mediterranean, the Arabian Gulf, and in support of Operation Deny Flight. As a U.S. Navy Reserve (NR) officer, Rader mobilized to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Among her various shore assignments, Rader most recently served as NR region commander, Navy Information Forces Mid-Atlantic, in Norfolk, VA.

Rader holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration from Saint Leo University. She studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute, received her commission through the Officer Candidate School program, and completed Joint Professional Military Education through the Naval War College.

The Mission-Driven Leaders: Conversations on Purpose program features interactive conversations with guest leaders from a variety of sectors who have experience in leading with purpose and making a difference in their professions and in society at large.  By engaging in conversations with those who practice mission-driven leadership, the intent is to help bring the Saint Leo mission to life for the university community and the public.
