0RESCHEDULED: ‘Why Dialogue Matters’ set for December 8 at Congregation Schaarai Zedek
The Saint Leo community is invited to join the Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies for a conversation on why interfaith dialogue and making friendships across differences is essential for our traditions, institutions, and society. Why Dialogue Matters will be held 7 – 9 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W. Swann Ave., Tampa, FL 33609.
This free event will feature Dr. Matthew Tapie, associate professor of theology and director of CCJS, and Rabbi David Maayan, Maureen and Douglas Cohn Visiting Chair in Jewish Thought and assistant director of CCJS, in conversation with local leaders:
Rabbi Rachel Blatt of Congregation Kol Ami;
Friar Henry Fulmer, OFM, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; and,
Rabbi Joel Simon of Congregation Schaarai Zedek.
In addition to the discussion, Dr. Eugene Fisher, distinguished professor of theology at Saint Leo University, will receive the 18th Annual Eternal Light Award for his 50 years of service in building Catholic-Jewish relations.
An hors d’oeuvre reception will take place at 6:15 p.m., before the event begins.
