0Cheer on Saint Leo’s newest club sport: ice hockey
Saint Leo now is home to an ice hockey club team, which features 11 students along with faculty member Dr. Randall Woodard, and staff member Kevin Floyd on its roster.
The team is led by student Jack Prieto, who is the captain. Other team members are Nick Dubaj, Logan Burke, Victor Tavera, Ethan Burke, Mike Milosevski, James Gagliano, Hunter Gillam, Jake Green, and Dylan Divenuti.
The ice hockey Lions are in the process of meeting necessary requirements to apply to be part of the Collegiate Hockey Federation. Currently, the team is playing the best semiprofessional adult recreational teams at the Lakeland Ice Arena. The team hopes to play at AdventHealth Center Ice in nearby Wesley Chapel, FL, in 2023.
All students, staff, faculty, alumni, and those in the area are invited to cheer on the Lions at the Lakeland Ice Arena, 3395 W. Memorial Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33815. There is no charge to attend the games.
In their first four games, the Lions have two ties, one win, and one loss:
Game 1: 5-5 tie vs. Lakeland Ice Arena (LIA) HSC
Game 2: 10-9 win vs. LIA Moose
Game 3: 7-0 loss vs. LIA Pigs
Game 4: 3-3 tie vs. LIA Cocks
