- Shadel Hamilton, senior associate vice president, worldwide operations, was recently appointed as a board of director for the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa, FL.
- Dr. Will Hamilton, chief assessment and institutional research officer, and Gabriela Hamilton, adjunct instructor of economics, presented their research on how community college students’ digital skills and knowledge predicts online student engagement/success (forthcoming journal publication), at an invited talk at Excelsior Community College in Jamaica, on May 18. Gabriela Hamilton, currently an assistant professor of economics and chair of the business and economics department at Hillsborough Community College, has been an adjunct instructor at Saint Leo University since 2012.
- Dr. Gianna Russo, assistant professor of English and creative writing, recently celebrated the release of her new book, All I See is Your Gliniting: 90 Days in the Pandemic. The book features poems and photographs that document each day of the last quarter of 2020 during the pandemic, capturing the small and meaningful moments of daily life. The book is available through Madville Publishing.
- Dr. Renee Sedlack, assistant professor of education leadership, was the keynote speaker at the spring meeting of Connecting Leaders through Advocacy, Support, and Service (CLASS), the professional association of administrators for Pasco County Schools. During the presentation, Sedlack shared four principals from a chapter she co-authored in Issues of Educational Leadership: Crisis Management in Challenging Times, which was published in 2021. More than 100 people attended the meeting.
- Dr. Matthew Tapie, associate professor of theology, was invited to a special conference in Rome, Italy, by Dr. Gavin D’Costa, visiting aquinas professor at the Thomistic Institute, Angelicum Pontifical University, Rome, and consultant to the Pontifical Commission for Interreligious Dialogue. Tapie and D’Costa facilitated a dialogue between Catholic and Jewish scholars on the concept of the land in Israel/Palestine. The international conference, held in April, included 17 leading scholars and was organized by the Bea Centre for Judaic Studies, at the Gregorian Pontifical University, and the Thomistic Institute, Angelicum Pontifical University. In March, Tapie also presented at the 2022 Corcoran Chair Conference, hosted by the Boston College Center for Christian-Jewish Learning. His presentation was entitled, “I Have Called You Friends: The Catholic Church’s Affirmation of Rabbinic Judaism as Resource for Christian Theology.”
