Saint Leo celebrates Wellness Center Grand Opening

Members of the Saint Leo University community and the public gathered on Friday, April 8, to celebrate the grand opening of the Wellness Center. The 59,500-square-foot building is home to a fitness floor, multipurpose gymnasium, health suite, healthy café, recreational spaces, and more. It also boasts one of the largest infinity edge pools at a university.

The grand opening included remarks from Senior Vice President Melanie Storms, President Jeffrey Senese, Board of Trustees Chair John View ’72, Town of St. Leo Mayor Pro Tem Brother James Hallett, SGU President Quiwanaki Ramsey, and Abbot Isaac Camacho from the Saint Leo Abbey.

“This is not just a university building,” said President Jeffrey D. Senese. “It’s a beautiful beacon on a hill next to a beautiful lake. It is, I hope, a manifestation of our value of ‘community.’ It is truly a place where mind, body, and spirit are grown, cared for, and celebrated.”

Following the ceremony, the community celebrated a ribbon-cutting, toured different areas of the Wellness Center, installed a time capsule, and unveiled a monument donated by Sigma Beta Fraternity.
