0Business Week set for March 28-30
The Tapia College of Business will once again host its Business Week series of events for students, faculty, and staff from Monday, March 28, through Wednesday, March 30.
Business Week was created to help prepare students for careers and expose them to experts who can offer advice and tips for success. The theme for this year’s week is Roaring Forward.
Here’s a summary of the events planned:
Monday, March 28
2:30 to 5 p.m. – Resume Workshop and Mock Interviews, TECO Hall
Career Services is providing students with the opportunity to create, revise, and enhance resumes in preparation for the upcoming career fair. Students can also practice and receive tips from professionals regarding the interview process.
5:30 to 7 p.m. – Dress for Success, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom
Dress for Success is a yearly event produced by the Accounting Club that aims to help students stay up to date with the latest in professional wear. Students learn about the appropriate attire for different types of events and clothing descriptions such as business casual.
Tuesday, March 29
9:30 to 11 a.m. – Mission-Driven Leaders, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom
This year’s keynote speaker is a part of the Mission-Driven Leaders: Conversations on Purpose speaker series. The university community will have the opportunity to hear from Vice President of Sales at WeWork Nick DeMarinis ’05.
11:20 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. –Ted Talks, TECO Hall
Ted Talks allow for industry professionals to share their expertise in topics that are pertinent to the global workplace. In keeping with the theme “Roaring Forward,” the Ted Talks will be focused on tools and schools of thought that help with moving forward in today’s marketplace.
2:40 p.m. – Entrepreneurship/Personal Finance Panel, TECO Hall
A panel of five industry professionals from different backgrounds have been brought together to help students navigate post-graduation challenges. This panel aims to help students looking to start their own businesses prepare to be proprietors and avoid some of the setbacks with ownership.
4:20 p.m. – Business Plan Competition, TECO Hall
The Business Plan Competition is a staple of Business Week and allows students to receive feedback on business ideas from individuals with years of industry and entrepreneurial experience and compete for cash prices. Students are required to submit a business plan and pitch the business to a panel of judges. View judges panel bios »
Wednesday, March 30
9:10 – 10 a.m. Getting Ready for the Transition, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom
A panel of 5 industry professionals from different backgrounds have been brought together to help students navigate post-graduation challenges. This panel will help students understand the benefits of continuous self-improvement and the value of certifications.
10:20 – 11:10 a.m. – Women’s Panel, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom
A panel of five industry professionals from different backgrounds have been brought together to help students navigate post-graduation challenges. The women’s panel aims to help students understand the unique challenges women face in the workplace.
1 – 4 p.m. – Career Fair, College of Business Lobby
Students can interview for jobs and internships, as well as obtain feedback from industry professionals. This event allows for students to strategically navigate the recruiters or obtain information about companies. This will be a hybrid event with employers attending both in-person and virtually.
4:30 p.m. – Award Ceremony, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardroom
Winners of the Business Plan Competition are announced and other students are recognized.
