Reminder to faculty: Register for Faculty Development Day with speaker Flower Darby

The Saint Leo University Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence would like to remind Saint Leo faculty that the 2021 Fall Faculty Development Day will be a virtual event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ET.

The guest speaker will be Flower Darby from Northern Arizona University (NAU). Darby speaks, writes, presents, and consults on teaching and learning theory both nationally and internationally. Darby earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature from NAU, and in her subsequent teaching succeeded as an instructor across multiple modalities: face-to-face, online, and in blended formats. In addition to teaching English, she has taught classes in educational technology and other topics.

Through her related writing, speaking, and consulting efforts, Darby has helped educators become more effective in their work. She is a columnist for the Chronicle of Higher Education, and is also the author, with fellow educator James M. Lang, of Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes. Registration is required for this event and can be completed here.
