0University begins additional work to enhance DEIJ efforts
Last month, the Saint Leo University senior leadership team and academic deans held a meeting to discuss opportunities to build upon the university’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) initiatives. While the university has made investments and progress in the past three years to move the needle on DEIJ, there continues to be considerable work that needs to be done in this area.
To help Saint Leo make additional progress, President Senese engaged the help of Dr. Shanequa Fleming, founder and CEO of Culture Accelerators, and appointed new staff member Ed Willis, to serve as our lead internal champion.
As a former chief learning officer, change catalyst, and culture and leadership expert, Dr. Fleming is known for solving seemingly impossible culture challenges, including digital disruption; driving growth; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and disengagement and disconnects with stakeholders. She has developed a proprietary framework to accelerate the path to greater impact, focusing on resource optimization, organizational design, leadership pipeline, workforce reskilling, and human resilience.
Together, alongside faculty, staff, and students, Dr. Fleming and Ed Willis will work to develop a blueprint that will guide the university’s DEIJ efforts. To develop a successful plan, it will be important to incorporate the perspectives, experiences, ideas, and actions of everyone. That’s why in the coming weeks, interviews will be conducted with different stakeholders across the university to collect information and perspectives that will help to inform the blueprint.
Faculty and staff can look forward to hearing more about the initiatives and the work of this group in upcoming Community news articles.
