0Saint Leo welcomes new Pi Gamma Mu members
Saint Leo’s undergraduate human services program recently held the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society for Social Sciences induction ceremony for new members. There were 22 attendees including faculty, alumni, and students.
Dr. Amina Abdullah, chair of the program, Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton, Dr. Katrina Maxwell, and Dr. Tamika Lett along with five Pi Gamma Mu alumni took part in the induction ceremony, which included the reading of the society’s seven ideals.
Nine students took the oath, recited the PGM motto, and were inducted into the International honor society. The new members are: Trysten Cahl, Nathaniel Gates, Shelby Hearn, Marsha Nelson, Joseph Hood, Clementine Johnson, Shenicka Monroe, and Hillary Landuyt.
Family and friends of the new Pi Gamma Mu members celebrated their induction. The ceremony recognized the academic achievements of HUS students. Membership offers students the opportunity to publish, attend conferences, stay up-to-date in the field, and connect with other professionals, earn scholarships, and more.
