Saint Leo gains momentum with Discovery 2027 plan, revises mission statement
With a general survey and SWOT analysis complete, Saint Leo University has recently made some forward momentum on key parts of the Discovery 2027 strategic plan, following the Board of Trustees meeting on April 30.
One of the steps in the strategic planning process called for a refresh of the university’s mission statement, which the board approved during the meeting. Work to refresh the statement began in March, and Saint Leo students, faculty, and staff were invited to participate at various points in the process. The administration is grateful to all members of the community who provided suggestions and comments in the process and appreciates the honest and heartfelt feedback that was received. The refreshed mission statement is included below and is also updated on the Saint Leo University website.
The Board of Trustees also approved a process by which Saint Leo’s mission statement will be regularly reviewed. The review is now formally linked to the strategic planning process at the university.
In addition to this step forward, the board heard an update on the strategic planning process, including a review of the three themes proposed for Discovery 2027: Innovation & Learning, Culture & Identity, and Community & Partnerships. Strategic planning subcommittees are working to define the themes and present the definitions for review.
The next steps for the Discovery 2027 plan will be to define the plans goals. Faculty and staff can look forward to hearing more developments on the Discovery 2027 strategic plan in the coming months.
