University now offering bereavement leave for part-time staff – effective March 8

Saint Leo University understands the need for employees to cope with the loss of an immediate family member. Starting today, the university will now provide paid time off to part-time employees whose immediate family members pass away.

Per the bereavement leave policy, an employee is eligible for paid time off of up to five days to cope with the loss of an immediate family member, attend observances, and/or conduct personal business related to the death of the family member. Full-time employees will be paid for eight (8) hours per day and part-time employees will be paid for four (4) hours per day.

The updated bereavement leave policy can be found within the Human Resources portion of the Saint Leo Policies site, available through Okta.

For questions and more information related to leave, please contact the Total Rewards team at wellness.benefits@saintleo.edu.
