0Saint Leo Christmas concert goes virtual, sharing encouraged
The Department of Language Studies and the Arts has released A Saint Leo Christmas 2020 via YouTube. The music program typically stages a Christmas concert, with multiple performances, during the first week of December. The event features student and faculty performers and is typically very popular with students’ families, university employees, alumni, and residents of our neighboring communities.
Although COVID-19 safety protocols made live performances impossible this season, Dr. Cynthia Selph and music instructor and concert technical director Mauricio J. Rodriguez asked the musicians to record individual performances of selected works, including works to be performed by groups. The recorded performances were mixed as needed and crafted into 10 sequential music videos.
This format allows members of our university community everywhere to view the concert, listen to the audio version by itself, share on social media or via email with friends and loved ones. (Saint Leo does reserve its legal rights to the production.) The concert includes a family-friendly mix of traditional, classical, and modern popular works. Full program information is also provided.
