University chaplain receives blessing from abbot at Mass on October 11

Saint Leo’s university chaplain, Father Randall Meissen, received a special blessing from Abbot Isaac Camacho, OSB, at the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 11, in the Saint Leo Abbey Church.

Father Randall is a member of the religious order, the Legion of Christ, and was ordained as a priest in 2014. He joined our Saint Leo community October 1 to lead University Ministry.

During Sunday’s Mass, he read the gospel, Matthew 22: 1-14. Following his homily, Abbot Camacho called Meissen forward and invited University President Jeffrey Senese to join him in the blessing.

“Lord, look kindly on your servant, Randall, who you send forth as a messenger of the faith and peace, marked by the sign of the cross,” Camacho said. “Guide his steps with your mighty arm.”

The abbot asked everyone to raise their right hands and extend a blessing upon Meissen. “Fill the hearts of your priest, the university’s chaplain, with the Holy Spirit, so in becoming all things to all people, he may lead many to you. May God who in Christ has shown his truth and love make you a messenger of the gospel, a witness to the divine love before all our students and staff.”

University Ministry is beginning to celebrate Mass on campus, with the student Mass being held at 7 p.m. Sundays in the Abbey Church. Mass will be livestreamed via Facebook Live on University Ministry’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/saintleouniversityministry. All are invited to view and join in Mass.
