0Take part in Advent Prayer Project to prepare for Christmas season
Feeling a little stressed and overwhelmed this holiday season? University Ministry suggests using the “APP” that will truly make this a blessed season this year! The APP that will help is the first-ever Advent Prayer Project with Bishop Gregory Parkes of the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg, FL. Parkes also serves on the Saint Leo University Board of Trustees.
The term Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “to come to.” Advent is a time when Christians prepare for the arrival of Jesus and celebrate his birth in human form. It is a time of penance, prayer, and preparation.
University Ministry invites students, faculty, and staff to prepare their hearts and homes for the holy season of Christmas by participating in the Advent Prayer Project, of APP. Participants will be guided in prayer by a video with Parkes each day of Advent, which begins Sunday, December 1.
According to the diocese, this project’s goal is to “help all Catholics increase their prayer life and grow closer to Jesus Christ.” To sign up, visit dosp.org/adventprayer or text Prayer2019 to 84576 to receive the prayer via text message
