0Sign up by November 1 to volunteer for Veterans Day service projects
This year, in celebration of Veterans Day, Saint Leo will host its annual community service day on Monday, November 11. There will be no classes on this day, but there will be plenty of volunteer opportunities. This year, Veterans Day will be either a work day or a service day. More information will be included in Community in the future about how to code the paid time off in Workday.
The university is partnering on several off-campus service projects, which will be offered for students, faculty, and staff during this Veterans Day of Service. Employees also may volunteer with the organization or agency of their choice; they do not have to volunteer at the activities coordinated by the university.
Saint Leo participants will work with community partners such as San Antonio Elementary School in San Antonio; Solutions Thrift Store in Dade City, which is operated by Sunrise of Pasco County Domestic and Sexual Violence Center; Gulfside Hospice Thrift Shoppe in Dade City; Pioneer Florida Museum and Village in Dade City; and more. There also is an on-campus volunteer opportunity: landscaping the Peaceful Reflections Garden at Saint Edward Hall.
All community service will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., so, opportunities are for 4 hours. Volunteers should report to their preferred sites by 9:45 a.m. All volunteers will receive the necessary documents to complete one week in advance.
If interested in volunteering, register here.
