Celebrate Thanksgiving at 24th annual community dinner

Thanksgiving Day is not a day to be alone. For the 24th year, the Benedictine Sisters of Florida are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner to share with others. International students and students staying on campus are invited to join the sisters!

Each year they celebrate with a homemade dinner, including all the trimmings! This free dinner is served from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. The traditional fare served is turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (100 pounds are peeled), green beans, and homemade pies. Sister Donna DeWitt prepares the meal, and the St. Anthony Women’s Club provides the yummy desserts. For the past 17 years, the event has been co-hosted by St. Anthony of Padua parish, and the event takes place at St. Anthony Parish Center, located behind the church at 12110 Main St., San Antonio, FL. It is a fun afternoon of fellowship and giving thanks. All are welcome!

Make a reservation for dinner today as space is limited. For those who are home-bound, please call to schedule delivery. The monastery can be reached at (352) 588-8443 or (352) 588-8320. If you would like to attend, volunteer, and/or donate, call one of the above phone numbers, or email hnmdevelopment@saintleo.edu. Saint Leo’s Social Work Club will collect cash donations from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m., and from 4:30 to 6 p.m., every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until Friday, through November 15, outside the Dining Hall.

Reservations MUST be made by 1 p.m. on Friday, November 22.

The sisters would like to give a special thanks to friends who volunteer and donate to help make this event possible.
