Dr. Fern Aefsky, director of graduate studies in education, received the Best Presentation Award from the Clute International Academic Conference on Education (ICE) New York. The award was given for her presentation entitled, ”Collaboration For School Safety: Can WE Ensure Safe Schools?” after a vote from conference attendees.
Rod Kirkwood, director of the Tampa Education Center, was selected to be a part of the Leadership Tampa Bay Class of 2020. The nonprofit program aims to help enhance awareness, education, and knowledge of major regional issues in the Tampa Bay area through learning experiences and discussion.
Dr. Stephen Okey, assistant professor of philosophy, religion, and theology, recently received honorable mention in the category of first time author of a book from the Catholic Press Association. His book, entitled A Theology of Conversation, was one of 30 to receive recognition at the 2019 Catholic Media Conference.
Dr. Lisa Rapp-McCall, professor of social work, was selected as the next editor-in-chief for the Social Workers’ Desk Reference, 4th edition. The book is published by Oxford University Press and is the leading reference book for the field of social work. It is written for professional social workers and students and offers short, evidence-based chapters on vital topics which social workers encounter every day. She is the first female editor in the history of the reference book.
