Saint Leo welcomes associate vice president of Human Resources

Saint Leo University is pleased to welcome David Tomanio as our new associate vice president of Human Resources. He will officially start at University Campus on September 23.

In his role, Tomanio will oversee the teams responsible for university-wide recruitment and onboarding, employee engagement, benefits administration, and employee wellness and training programs. He comes to Saint Leo with strong experience in Workday and ADP information systems, among others.

Prior to Saint Leo, Tomanio was the assistant vice president of human resources at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. There he led a team of 25 human resources professionals in the areas of benefits, classification and compensation, employee relations, recruitment services, student employment, and records processing. One of his significant accomplishments included the implementation of a leading-edge customer service training attended by employees and leadership across the university.

Tomanio has held other human resource leadership positions throughout his career, serving as director of human resources at Trade Street Residential in Aventura, FL; the National Beverage Corp. in Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Del Monte Fresh Produce Company in Coral Gables, FL.

Tomanio has earned two master’s degree. One is in business administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and the other is in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University. He received his bachelor’s degree in management/industrial relations from University of Bridgeport (CT). Tomanio is currently completing a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University and is expected to graduate just prior to joining Saint Leo University.
