Women in Data + Science Conference calls for proposals

Saint Leo University, in partnership with Data + Women of Tampa Bay, is hosting the Women in Data + Science Conference from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, in the Student Community Center at University Campus. The conference is open to everyone.

This inaugural interdisciplinary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) conference aims to broaden the impact and exposure of women in data-infused fields by creating a community that educates, empowers, and inspires. Given the increased visibility of the struggles women face in the workplace, the conference seeks to honor women’s accomplishments in the sciences and to offer networking opportunities. It is important for women to share the hurdles they encounter and their strategies for overcoming them in order to bolster the next generation of women in historically male-dominated industries.

Submissions, which will be peer reviewed, are welcome from all academic disciplines and professionals in nonacademic settings. Presenters must register for the conference. Proposals are due by Thursday, November 15.

For more information or to submit a proposal, visit the conference website. Individuals can also contact Amanda Forrester at amanda.forrester@saintleo.edu or (352) 588-7283 or contact Heather Johnson at heather.johnson03@saintleo.edu or (352) 588-7283.
