0Join Lakeland Education Center for Charity Challenge, attempt at Guinness World Record
Join the Saint Leo University Lakeland Education Center team in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record on Sunday, April 15.
Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends are invited to participate in the Winter Haven Charity Challenge and Human Awareness Ribbon event at Publix Field at Joker Merchant Stadium, 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33805.
The goal is to form the “largest human awareness ribbon,” while raising funds for the American Cancer Society. Saudi Arabia holds the record with 8,264 people and organizers of the Polk County (FL) event hope to have 10,000 people participate. A Guinness adjudicator will be on site
Participants will receive and wear purple ponchos. Purple was selected to represent all cancers. A donation is required, which includes admission to the Flying Tigers baseball game at 1:05 p.m. The gates open at 9 a.m. Participants will form the giant ribbon on the field at 11:30 a.m.
