“Meet Your Faculty” series: Dr. Barngrover
The Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library will host the second installment of the “Meet Your Faculty” series at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, in the browsing area of library. The featured faculty member for this event is Dr. Anne Barngrover, assistant professor of English and creative writing at University Campus. The event may also be viewed online at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/saintleoadmin.
Dr. Barngrover will reflect on her early influences, her scholarly journey, and her love for poetry. She will discuss her writing craft, in particular, the making of her poems in her forthcoming book, Brazen Creature (University of Akron Press, 2018). The book, with a backdrop of the rural Midwest, explores a young women’s awakening to her own power in the face of long-standing oppression.
There will be time at the end of the talk for a Q&A, and Dr. Barngrover, who teaches in the Master of Arts low-residency program in creative writing, has some insights to share with us about the upcoming summer session.
Brent Short, director of Library Services, adds, “Based on the fact that we think we have a pretty fantastic faculty, we wanted to present them in a way that would allow students, and other Saint Leo community members who might not have them for classes, to get a sense of who they are as people (and not just academics), where they came from, and how their particular interests came to be what they are.”
This series is open to the public, and the next event in the series will be scheduled in March.
