0Safety precautions for Monday’s solar eclipse
On Monday, August 21, the solar eclipse, depending on your physical location, will begin at about 1:05 p.m. and last until 4:13 p.m. EST. Please consult local information for specific times in your location. The NASA website is one to consult.
Observing the sun can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken.
We are asking all university community members to use an abundance of caution while outside and while driving during the time of the eclipse. Please be especially careful to avoid distracted drivers and pedestrians.
On University Campus, no athletic practices will be held during the period of 1:15 to 4:15 p.m. We will be closing the pool and other outdoor venues during this same period.
