Caps of Love celebration, send-off on March 23

Students, faculty, and staff have collected bottle caps for Caps of Love, a Florida-based nonprofit organization that recycles plastic tops. The proceeds from recycling the plastic are used to purchase new and refurbished wheelchairs for children with mobility disabilities.

This year, Saint Leo collected enough bottle caps to fill 21 pallets. Last year, the university filled 14 pallets containing over 8,000 pounds of plastic caps.

Everyone is welcome to the big send-off for the bottle caps on Thursday, March 23. There will be a celebration featuring snacks, music, and giveaways beginning at 1 p.m. in Parking Lot 13 near the tennis courts. The truck should be packed at about 2 p.m. for recycling at Commercial Plastics Recycling in Tampa.
