0Interactive play explores issues of race, class, gender, religion, law
DEFAMATION, an interactive courtroom drama that examines today’s social issues, will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, in the Student Community Center boardrooms. Everyone is welcome.
Sponsored by Residence Life, Student Activities, and Community Engagement, DEFAMATION is a powerful diversity presentation that allows students, faculty, and staff to engage in civil discourse about the issues of race, class, religion, gender, and the law. The performance takes the form of a courtroom drama, where the audience serves as the jury.
The play, written by Todd Logan, takes about 75 minutes, audience deliberation with the judge lasts about 15 to 20 minutes, and the post-show discussion will be about 20 to 30 minutes.
DEFAMATION premiered on November 6, 2010, at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, IL. Since then it has been performed more than 160 times throughout the United States and seen by more than 30,000 people.
