Business and Career Week 2016, February 22 – 25

Students are encouraged to participate in the many events going on during the 2016 Business and Career Week, which begins February 22 and ends February 25.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, there will be a business card clinic in in the School of Business building lobby (atrium).  All students who register at this time will receive free business cards.

At 1:30 p.m., students are invited to the Northwestern Mutual workshop in TECO Hall where they will hear from a recruiting professional about the best practices for winning the “résumé game.”

Drop-in advising will take place 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, in the Student Activities Building, Room 203.

From 2 to 3:30 p.m. in TECO Hall, students may participate in a mock interview workshop in which they may practice their interviewing skills with faculty, Career Planning staff, and our MBA students.

Dress for Success is the theme for Wednesday, February 24. From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in the Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms, there will be the fourth annual fashion show in which students will learn that while they don’t have to wear a lifeless uniform, there are wardrobe mistakes they cannot make.

A career fair is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, February 25, in the lobby and on the sidewalk (loggia) of the business building. Students will have the opportunity to network and search for internship and career possibilities.

Also on Thursday, Saint Leo will host the Pasco Economic Development Council’s SMARTstart Challenge and the finals of the student business plan competitionfrom 3 to 6 p.m. in TECO Hall. Judges have narrowed the field from 17 to four student finalists who will pitch their business plan in a “Shark Tank” manner. PEDC SMARTstart Challenge entrepreneurs will compete for a cash prize and a six-month, on-site membership in one of the SMARTstart Pasco business incubators.
