Canceled—Community invited to campus walk/run to help fight brain tumors

Faculty, staff, students, and the local community are invited to attend a walk/run event at University Campus to raise funds to fight brain tumors on Saturday, March 28, at 8 a.m. All event proceeds benefit the National Brain Tumor Society’s glioblastoma research efforts. Brain tumors can be deadly and impact thousands of lives each year.

This year will be the second Tampa Bay Area Brain Tumor 5k Walk/Run hosted by Saint Leo University.  It will not only allow the university family to remember and honor their loved ones with this affliction, but also give members of the greater Tampa Bay Area an opportunity to take part. Further, the event affirms to those who attend that they are not alone in their struggles and worries.

According to the National Brain Tumor Society, an estimated 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor today, and more 86,000 more will be diagnosed this year.  Student and organizer Isabella Jacus lost her uncle—a Saint Leo alumnus and a man who had no family history of cancer—to a brain tumor. Participants can register here individually or form teams to walk for a cause they care about.  For more information or would  like to share ideas or help with this event, please contact Isabella  at isabella.jacus@email.saintleo.edu.
