Celebrate Day of Inclusion with Month of Pledges

The annual Day of Inclusion is celebrated around the world on March 3 to raise awareness about our need for more inclusive communities, specifically for members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students with intellectual and developmental disabilities often experience exclusion, prejudice, and isolation. The Office of Accessibility Services is asking for your active participation in spreading a culture of inclusivity for these students at our university.

The day is an opportunity to publicly share personal pledges to make your community more inclusive. Pledges should be short, between 3-4 sentences, and share specific action steps. For examples of inclusion pledges, you can visit the Spread the Word: Global webpage.

If you would like to make a virtual pledge for inclusivity, please email your submissions to Sheyenne.boerker@email.saintleo.edu between March 3-31. The Office of Accessibility Services will then post your pledge on their social media pages along with important research and resources about intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Thank you for your participation and ongoing efforts to make Saint Leo University a more inclusive community!
