Saint Leo professor speaks at diocese’s ‘Conversations about Race’

The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg holds monthly “Conversations About Race,” and in November, Dr. Moneque Walker-Pickett, professor and associate chair of Saint Leo’s Department of Criminal Justice, was one of the featured guest speakers.

Walker-Pickett’s multidisciplinary background in law, sociology, and race and ethnic relations guides her research interests in exploring the intersectionality of race and ethnicity, gender, crime, and public policy.

The diocese’s November Conversation on Race focused on:

  • Reflecting on why we need to work together for justice
  • Listening to the voices of others to better understand them
  • Growing in Christian love for each other and in unity.

Walker-Pickett’s topic for the discussion was “The Result of No Action: Why We Need to Work Together for Justice.” You can find the talk at https://youtu.be/MC1BMmdFIk4.
