The Saint Leo University campus community came together Wednesday night, November 18, for the annual Christmas tree lighting and blessing of the manger. The evening featured lawn games for students prior to the official ceremony and a special screening of The Polar Express following the blessing on the University Center lawn.

Saint Leo University President Jeffrey D. Senese gave the official proclamation “Let there be light” before the Christmas tree, manger, and surrounding palm trees all lit up in spectacular fashion for those in attendance.

Father Randall Meissen, university chaplain, blessed both the Christmas tree and manger while Student Government Union President Ashley Butler provided a reading from the Gospel of Luke. Music Minister Lucas Nocera closed out the event by leading the Saint Leo community in Christmas carols.

Prior to the lighting, music was provided by several student soloists under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Selph, assistant professor of music, as well as members of the Music Ministry team.
