Human Resources announces summer dress code and flexible workweek option
In an effort to provide staff and faculty with more flexibility this summer, Dr. Senese has approved a relaxed summer dress code and a second year of flexible work schedule for select weeks. Supervisors will work with their teams to help make the most of these continued employee benefits, while still ensuring the university is well represented and our important work continues.
Summer casual dress code takes effect immediately. The summer casual dress code will be in effect through Friday, August 7, providing casual dress options during some of the hottest weeks of the year. While guidelines are provided below, it is important to choose attire that represents the university well at all times. This may mean forgoing casual dress options as duties warrant.
- Dress shorts, capris, and jeans are permissible and should be clean and of appropriate length. Short shorts, cut-offs, and distressed jeans with holes are not permitted.
- Shirts with collars, polos, and blouses are appropriate. T-shirts may be worn if they are items with the Saint Leo University logo. University apparel is encouraged. Halter tops or crop tops are not permitted.
- Shoes may include sandals but no flip-flops permitted.
- Beachwear is not permitted at any time.
Voluntary flexible Fridays offered during July this summer. Beginning the week of July 6 through the week of July 27, employees have the option to take Friday off from work as long as they work four, 10-hour workdays. The 40-hour workweek must be completed in the four days preceding the Friday. This benefit will be subject to division Vice President approval. Department managers must submit a request on behalf of their department via email to their Vice President to get approval to participate in some or all flexible Fridays. Employees may opt out of participating if they are unable to schedule 40 hours in a four-day workweek. Vice Presidents will make an effort to accommodate departments requests as often as possible to allow employees to take advantage of this opportunity, not all departments and employees will be able to participate in taking these Fridays off due to departmental responsibilities and preparation for fall events. Staff and faculty who are essential to maintaining necessary work of the university on those Fridays (July 10, 17, 24, and 31) will be required to work.
Employees taking vacation for an affected week should still submit the full five days on their vacation requests, as the workweek remains the standard 40-hours.
