Thanksgiving celebration successfully serves community

Saint Leo’s Social Work Club, led by Dr. Veronika Ospina-Kammerer, received a special thanks from Sister Roberta Bailey, OSB, prioress of Holy Name Monastery, for collecting more than $600 in donations for this year’s Thanksgiving celebration provided by the Benedictine Sisters of Florida, which was co-hosted by St. Anthony of Padua parish, and held at St. Anthony Parish Center in San Antonio, FL.

These funds helped provide a home-cooked, traditional meal for 225 people on Thanksgiving Day, including Saint Leo students. In addition, more than 100 meals were delivered to the local domestic abuse shelter and to seniors and others who are confined to their homes in the local community.

“This is just one of our ministries to enrich the lives of those who need our help,” Bailey said. “Each gift received brings us closer to our mission to feed the hungers of God’s people.

“A special thanks to all Saint Leo community members who contributed to the event’s continued success!”
