Saint Leo Serves — Marietta Education Center collecting nonperishable food for Make a Difference Day

Saint Leo University’s Marietta Education Center is collecting nonperishable food items in partnership with Feed Thee Inc. now through Friday, October 26, as part of Saint Leo Serves.

A team of volunteers from Saint Leo University-Marietta will put together bags at the Marietta center on Saturday, October 27, National Make a Difference Day. The team also will deliver the bags to the families in need.

Suggested items for donation include: 

Peanut butter; dried pasta; spaghetti sauce; canned vegetables and fruit (with pull-top openings); macaroni and cheese; individually packaged chips/pretzels/crackers; boxed drinks and juices; Vienna sausages (with pull top lids); Pop-Tarts; individual packets of oatmeal; plastic spoons; gallon-sized Ziploc bags; canned tuna; bags of dried rice and/or beans; applesauce; pudding cups; fruit cups; granola bars; power bars; cereal bars; cans of Chef Boyardee pasta meals; canned soups; ramen noodles; trail-mix; and cereal.

Saint Leo-Marietta hopes to provide bags to 40 families, men and women in need of food that have submitted requests through the Feed Thee organization, which is based in Marietta. It is a nonprofit organization serving anyone within the Atlanta metropolitan area who demonstrates a need for food. Many of the constituents Feed Thee services are living with chronic illnesses such as HIV, diabetes, or cancer and are either unemployed, underemployed, or homeless.

Food items may be dropped off at Saint Leo University’s Marietta Education Center, 1395 S. Marietta Parkway S.E., Building 300, Suite 104, Marietta, GA 30067. The office is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday. The office is closed on Sunday.

In addition, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Saint Leo-Marietta to collect food for this cause. Additional donation boxes have been set up at the Cobb County Administrative Building: 1825 County Services Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
