Criminal Justice Speaker Series starts October 3

Saint Leo University is offering its 2018-2019 Criminal Justice Speaker Series for the public, students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The events are a great opportunity for those who are serving or interested in law enforcement or criminal justice.  

The university is hosting this event at the Ocala Education Center, 1930 S.W. 38th Ave., Ocala, FL 34474.

The first session, Where’s the Evidence?, will be taught by Saint Leo University’s instructor of criminal justice, Charlotte F. Braziel. She is a former FBI special agent who specialized in white collar crime, bank fraud, major organized crime, human trafficking, and terrorist investigation. From 1 to 4 p.m on Wednesday, October 3, she will share insights on her 26-year career in law enforcement and discuss the collection and analysis of forensic evidence. 

Additional sessions in the series include:

  • Testifying Made Easy, from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018. The speaker is Dr. Christine Sereni-Massinger, retired judge and associate professor of criminal justice at Saint Leo University. This seminar focuses on preparing law enforcement officers to effectively testify in court. (story)
  • Stress Management for Law Enforcement, from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019. This seminar is by Elaine Terenzi, retired chief U.S probation officer. She will discuss stress management and resilience training for law enforcement officers. (story)
  • 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendment Issues for Law Enforcement, from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019. The speaker is attorney, Jack Jordan. With more than 45 years of law enforcement experience, he will inform on the recent legal cases involving the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments. (story
