Leaders in the Industry webinar series continues, March 14

Saint Leo University Online Career Services presents this monthly series of interactive webinars offering online students the opportunity to explore career fields and network with industry professionals. Attend from wherever you are!

Gerri AlmandThe next webinar will be on Tuesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. ET and features Gerri Almand, a social worker with a career spanning more than 40 years. Almand served as school social worker for the Hillsborough County School District for almost 30 years. She is a published author and has also worked in the fields of community mental health, child custody investigations, child abuse, and juvenile corrections.

Almand’s career began in the 1970s, a time sparking dramatic changes as the field of social work was coming of age. The social work profession grew during this period in tandem with the expansion of state services internationally. In addition, professional organizations and education mirrored the movement and stimulated an increasingly broad mission of the profession to bring about social change. Social work methods expanded to encompass group work, community work, and administration, in addition to casework with individuals and families.

Join us to enhance your understanding of the social work profession, as Almand shares first-hand accounts of the evolution and her passion for the field.
