Saint Leo selected to host NCAA Division II softball regional
Saint Leo softball, the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Champions, earned the No. 2 seed in the South Region of the 2017 NCAA Division II Softball Championship, and was selected to host the NCAA South 2 Regional. The double-elimination tournament will be held at the Saint Leo University Softball Stadium on Thursday, May 11, through Saturday, May 13. The Lions were the only team selected out of the SSC and are headed to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season.
Saint Leo (37-13) will face No. 7 seed North Alabama (30-18) in the first game of the regional on Thursday, May 11, at noon. No. 3 seed Alabama-Huntsville (41-15) and No. 6 seed Lee University (33-18) will play in the day’s second game at 3 p.m.
The NCAA South 2 Regional will continue on Friday, May 12, with games at noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. The championship game will be played on Saturday, May 13, at noon, with the “if necessary” game scheduled for immediately afterward. Read the complete release

Saint Leo graduates 72 student-athletes at commencement ceremonies
A total of 72 Saint Leo student-athletes received their bachelor’s degrees during commencement exercises on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. Read the complete release
Women’s golf named No. 2 seed for NCAA South Super Regional
Saint Leo women’s golf received an NCAA Super Regional bid for the seventh time in program history – and fourth in a row under Head Coach Tommy Baker. The Lions were named the No. 2 seed for the South Super Regional, which begins play today, Monday, May 8, in Elgin, SC. Read the complete release
Adkins and Creamer named CoSIDA Academic All-District
Saint Leo senior Stephanie Adkins and junior Brittany Creamer were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District softball team on Thursday. Both players will now advance for consideration for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced on May 24. Read the complete release
