Saint Leo captures three SSC titles over the weekend
Three Saint Leo teams clinched Sunshine State Conference championships over the weekend, leading the Lions to celebrate what was arguably the greatest weekend in Saint Leo sports history.
– Men’s tennis started things off on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Florida Tech, allowing the Lions to complete a 6-0 SSC regular season slate and wrap-up the regular season crown. Saint Leo will head into SSC Championship in two weeks as the No. 1 seed.
– Women’s tennis continued the trend on Sunday morning with a 6-3 triumph over No. 7 Nova Southeastern, again allowing the Lions to complete their SSC schedule with a perfect 8-0 mark and the regular season crown. Women’s tennis will also head to the SSC Championship in Tampa in two weeks as the No. 1 seed.
– Despite a rough weekend at home, Saint Leo softball’s nearest rival for the SSC crown, Rollins College, was swept by Barry in a three-game series over the weekend allowing the Lions to clinch the 2016 SSC Softball Championship. The SSC crown is the second in program history, and second over the last four years.
