Watch for traffic: State Road 56 closure to take effect April 1-3
From 11 p.m. on Friday, April 1, to approximately noon on Sunday, April 3, State 56 will be closed to all traffic at the Interstate 75 interchange, in order to place the I-75/S.R. 56 interchange into the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) traffic pattern. During this time, no traffic will be permitted to travel through the work zone across I-75.
During this time, S.R. 56 traffic will be detoured using S.R. 56, Bruce B. Downs Boulevard (State Road 581), and State Road 54/County Road 54 (Wesley Chapel Boulevard). Once the new DDI traffic pattern is completed on Sunday, April 3, S.R. 56 will be open to traffic, but travelers are advised that S.R. 56 will not be at full-capacity until closer to project completion, which is scheduled for summer 2022.
