Saint Leo community invited to help save EASE

The Florida House of Representatives recently proposed a bill that would make Saint Leo University, and 16 other private colleges and universities in Florida, ineligible to receive and distribute Effective Access to Student Education (EASE) grants to students. EASE funding helps make it possible for Florida students to obtain bachelor’s degrees at private universities in the state.

If House Bill 5601 were to move forward, it would result in a $36.4 million cut to EASE, affecting nearly 13,000 students throughout Florida. At Saint Leo University, it would mean that nearly 2,000 students, who currently qualify for EASE grants, would miss out on receiving $2,841 toward the cost of their annual education at the university.

Faculty, staff, and students who are interested in helping to save this important funding may find more information at saintleo.edu/saintleosaveease. There are template resources available to help make it easy to inform our legislators about just how important EASE is to Saint Leo University students.
