Saint Leo hosts community for COVID-19 vaccine

On Friday, January 15, Saint Leo University welcomed 500 area residents who came to University Campus to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, administered by the Florida Department of Health-Pasco County.

At the event, residents age 65 and older received the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. Check-in was held in the parking lot near the university’s athletic fields, and the vaccine was administered in the parking garage. The distribution of the vaccine also attracted media attention for the university, with several news stations reporting about it.

“Saint Leo University was proud to help our county health department in serving the residents of East Pasco County, providing quick access to a potentially life-saving vaccine,” said University President Jeffrey D. Senese. “Community’ is one of Saint Leo’s core values, and we thoroughly embrace the idea of helping others. We welcome our Pasco County neighbors and were glad to offer this opportunity to those 65 and older at this time.”
